Police: Road Rage Turned Into Perry Twp Hit & Run
PERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ―
State Police in Belle Vernon say a road rage incident that got out of hand ended when one driver hitting the other and leaving him lying in the street.
According to investigators, Lou Thorpe, 36, of Bentleyville, suffered multiple broken bones and road rash after he was hit by 22-year-old Sean Bavuso's truck.
It happened shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday on State Route 201 in Perry Township, Fayette County.
Police say Bavuso, of Grindstone, didn't stop after Thorpe allegedly pulled off the road to duke it out with him.
Before the alleged hit and run happened, police say Thorpe and Bavuso were both headed soutbound on Rte. 201 when Thorpe started to tailgate Bavuso, passed him and started to hit his brakes.
Leads led State Police to Bavuso's home where the truck was parked with a damaged grill.
Thorpe was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital and listed in fair condition.
Bavuso was charged with aggravated assault.
