Traffic Flowing On Turnpike After Major Closure

A tractor-trailer accident shut down a 90-mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike for hours last night

NAPIER TWP (KDKA) ― Traffic is moving again on the Pennsylvania Turnpike today after an accident involving at tractor-trailer caused major problems last night.

A tractor-trailer overturned and caught fire near Mile Marker 140 in Napier Township, Bedford County last night.

Several other vehicles were also involved in the crash, which shut down about 90-miles of the highway between New Stanton and Breezewood for more than four hours.

One truck driver told KDKA that the detours made the traffic problems even worse.

"A lot of the people that were not from this area were confused because they didn't know how to get back on off of Route 30," Nansi Nelson added, "you know you have to go south there a few miles to get back on the Turnpike."
