An observant neighbor says she found one of the guns linked to the shooting death of a Penn Hills police officer.
Investigators spent most of the night looking for evidence along Johnston Road.
They found shell casings, but what they needed was a weapon.
"I just had this weird feeling and I went over to my dining room window and I looked out and I looked up and I saw something laying in my neighbor's in the sedum that grows there," said a woman who did not want to be identified.
The woman knew police were looking for a gun near her Glendale Avenue home. She had a gut feeling it was nearby, but didn't realize just how close.
"And I went and got my coat and I come out and I went over and I looked down part of the gun was sticking out," she explained.
Police were already in the area looking for that gun.
"And I flagged him. And he pulled over and he said, 'What's wrong?'
"And I said, 'I think I found one of the murder weapons used to kill that police officer.'
"And he said, 'Where is it?' And I pointed to it.
"I said, 'I didn't touch it.'"
Neighbors say the memory of Sunday night's shooting will be etched in their memory forever.
"Hopefully they'll board that house up, you know what I mean?" says Mona Cephas. "Or tear it down."
