Penguins Grant Wish For Children
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
During this holiday season, kids all over the world are making their Christmas wish-lists; but for 25 local children and their families, one of their wishes came true today: they got the chance to meet the Pittsburgh Penguins.
For the 28th year in a row, the Penguins teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to host a special luncheon for the kids.
Along with face painting and other activities, the kids got to watch practice and meet their favorite Penguins players.
Not only was the day exciting for the youngsters and their parents, but some players say it was a great experience for them as well.
"Oh, it's fun for us and this is fun for us to come here and be around these kids," said Sidney Crosby. "I mean I think we have as much fun as they do around here as well."
The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 when a boy with leukemia realized his wish to become a police officer. From those humble beginnings, the foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
