Volunteers Raise $, Collect Goods For Troops

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) ― Local volunteers with "Operation Troop Appreciation" spent the day raising money and collecting goods.

The group gathered Saturday outside of the Sam's Club in West Mifflin.

They worked together to fill a caravan of goods for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"We get letters everyday," said Kathleen Gasior, a member of Operation Troop Appreciation. "They feel that our support is absolutely the thing that keeps them going - anything to let them know they are not forgotten."

"Operation Troop Appreciation" helps support entire units rather than individuals, and provides soldiers with everything from toiletry items to candy bars.
