Larry Richert Plays Key Role In Making Major Movie
WASHINGTON, PA (KDKA) ―
KDKA's Larry Richert has taken on many jobs with his "Larry On the Job" feature; and he's even doing it while he's on vacation!
This week he's on the set of "Shannon's Rainbow," a major Hollywood movie that's being filmed right here in Western Pennsylvania and he played a key role in bringing some big names in Hollywood to town to film it.
Larry actually co-wrote the story with friend, John Mowod, and they're both serving as the Pennsylvania producers on the project.
The movie is based in part on a true story about Mowod's brother, Joe, who nursed a horse back to health and on to a big win.
The pair wrote the script over a 14-month period but it took another 13 years to get to this point.
Filming began earlier this week bringing such stars as Daryl Hannah, Charles Durning, Claire Forlani, Steve Guttenberg, George Lopez and others to the region.
Today crews were shooting in a rural area of Washington County and they're expected to film a lot of scenes around the Meadows Racetrack.
Filming is expected to wrap up in late July.
