Moon Township Police Probe Daylight Burglaries

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― Police in Moon Township are urging precautions after no less than eight burglaries all taking place in homes in quiet residential neighborhoods.

According to authorities, the thefts have been reported during the daylight hours.

The MO is usually always the same. It appears someone knocks on a door to check on whether anyone is there.

Then if there's no answer the burglar forces his way inside by breaking either glass on a window or door.

Jewelry is usually what ends up being stolen.

Dr. Fauad Bassilias got a ring on his doorbell Thursday and a man asked him for directions.

But, Bassilias, who lives on Hayeswold Drive, said he felt something wasn't right.

"The guy was not listening, he didn't ask me any questions, he just said thank you, and left," he said.

Bassilias told police the guy was white with short hair, had a tattoo on his neck and wore an earring. He was driving what looked like a Grand Am.

Moon Police say if anyone sees or hears something suspicious in the neighborhood, they should contact authorities immediately.
