Judge Accepts Plea Of Suspected Graffiti Vandal
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
The man accused of leaving graffiti tags on many sites across Pittsburgh was back in court today.
Daniel Montano, 22, is facing 18 felony and 64 misdemeanor charges.
KDKA's Harold Hayes reports that this afternoon the judge accepted Montano's plea. He could spend a maximum of 130 years in jail and face restitution worth $299,301.40.
Montano's graffiti appeared on many places like city-owned walls, private businesses to homeowner's garages.
Meanwhile, police say graffiti tags that read, 'Forgive,' are being left on sites in the Lawrenceville area.
Officials say Montano's friends are hoping the judge will take it easy on him.
But other Lawrenceville residents don't see it that way.
"If he's 22-years-old and he's talented then he needs to direct his talent to something other than vandalizing people's property," said Tony Ceoffi, of Lawrenceville United.
Montano faces sentencing in July.
