Pittsburgh fans are remembering pop icon Michael Jackson in a number of ways; some have even created a makeshift memorial outside Mellon Arena.
One day after the shocking news of his death, sme people have been paying tribute to the pop icon by leaving mementoes including flowers, candles, pictures and signs in his honor.
As part of his "Bad" tour, Jackson performed in Pittsburgh at the former Civic Arena for three days in September of 1988.
One self-proclaimed lifelong fan, Matt Arch, stopped by the arena today to pay his respects.
"It's amazing," Arch said of the response, "and I'm sure it's been happening in every major city. I know in Harlem and at the Apollo Theater. I know in L.A. I know all the huge areas where there's a lot of influence on Hollywood, I'm sure is a much grander scale."
Arch already bought tickets to Jackson's upcoming concerts in London.
"Yesterday was quite traumatic knowing that he passed away," he told KDKA.
Just past the arena memorial, B94 and Star 100.7 set up tents and played Jackson's hits this morning.
The radio stations have been paying tribute to Jackson's memory through his music.
Star 100.7 Morning Show co-host Shelley Duffy said such extraordinary radio play for an artist is unprecedented and warranted.
"He was an icon," Duffy added. "He was somebody that was above and beyond everybody. There is no one like him and that's how it will always be; and when that kind of thing happens when this kind of news happens, yeah you go above and beyond."
