D.A. Calls 10-Year-Old's Shooting An Accident

FREDONIA (AP) ― A western Pennsylvania prosecutor says no charges will be filed against a 15-year-old boy who shot his 10-year-old cousin in the face on New Year's Eve.

But Mercer County District Attorney Robert Kochems stopped short of saying no charges will be filed in the incident, which remains under investigation.

Kochems says the shooting was an accident.

State police say the girl who was shot was home alone with her cousin when she was shot about 6:30 p.m. with a handgun found in the home.

The shooting happened in Delaware Township, about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh where the girl remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The victim is from Sharon and is not being identified by authorities.
