The Meadows Adds High Stakes Slot Machines

NORTH STRABANE (KDKA) ― The Meadows Racetrack and Casino is betting on a new high stakes room to bring in the high rollers.

The new room has only been open for 24 hours and it's already had an estimated 16 jackpots with one as high as $40,000.

"One of the most requested things was higher denomination slot machines so $1, $5, $10, $25 slot machine," Michael Jankoviak, a casino official, said.

The room also has its own bar, cashier and provides a more intimate setting.

Meadows officials say while the new room has attracted more visitors, it also has created a problem of sorts. They're running out of machines for everyone.

The permanent casino at the Meadows opens in 2009.
