Testimony Continues In Greene Co. Murder Trial

WAYNESBURG (KDKA) ― Testimony continues today in the trial of the man accused in the sexual assault and strangling death of a Greene County girl back in 2006.

Jeffrey Martin, of Fayette County, is accused in the murder of 12-year-old Gabrielle Bechen.

Prosecutors say Martin buried Bechen, along with her ATV, shoes and helmet.

After five days of searching, her body was recovered on a horse farm in Waynesburg.

On Monday, opening statements were presented and testimony got underway. Bechen's parents along with police and forensics experts took the stand and investigators brought her ATV into the courtroom.

Bechen's mother continues her testimony today. Also, former Allegheny County Coroner, Dr. Cyril Wecht, took the stand today.

The defense claims that Martin's alleged confession was coerced.

Martin could face the death penalty if he is convicted.
