Police Arrest Mother In Connection With Fatal Fire

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh police say they have arrested the mother of a young boy who died earlier this month after being pulled from a house fire in Pittsburgh's Lincoln-Larimer neighborhood.

Investigators say they have arrested and charged Mia Marshman, 29, with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children.

The two-alarm fire started in the early morning hours of March 4 on Winslow Street. Firefighters pulled Marshman and three children from the home.

Marshman's son, Isiah, 6, died after being rescued from the home and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

After the blaze, investigators said that the fire started in the kitchen because a pot of grease was left on the stove.

However, detectives now say they have determined that Marshman was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana while she was trying to cook and the fatal fire was the result.

Police say Marshman was taken into custody this morning.

Stay with KDKA for much more on this developing story.
