Officials Set Opening Date For North Shore Casino

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― As construction continues on the North Shore's new casino, officials have now set a date for the grand opening.

According to our news partners at the Post-Gazette, the Majestic Star Casino is expected to open on May 1, 2009.

Officials say work crews are on a 16 month schedule to complete the $450 million facility.

But casino officials add that the May '09 opening date is subject to major construction delays as well as other unforeseen factors, but so far the work is off to a good start.

Officials broke ground on the casino on December 11, 2007.
