Parents Outraged, Concerned Over Boy's Death

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) ― Today is the first day of classes at Kelly Elementary School in Wilkinsburg, since a 12-year-old classmate was shot.

Kholen Germany died early Saturday morning after a bullet struck him in the shoulder Friday night, as he stood on Wood Street.

They say Germany was not the intended target and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This morning at the school, parents expressed their concern over the escalating violence.

"It was terrible. These young boys got these guns now they're killing children," said parent Bob Davis. "The little boy's father and mother were good friends of mine. He was a very good kid."

"Me and my younger daughter were walking by there probably right before that happened and I go by that street very often," said parent Lisa Knight. "So, it's a big concern."

"I'm to the point where I'm afraid to go over on Wood Street anymore," said parent Shirley Robinson. "I'm afraid for my life, my grand daughter's. "

Police have not made any arrests.

Meanwhile, funeral arrangements have been made for Germany.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 - 8 p.m. at Spriggs & Watson Funeral Home on North Lang Avenue.

Funeral services will also be held at Spriggs & Watson on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with interment at Allegheny Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been set up in Kholen Germany's name

Donations can be made at the PNC Bank at 701 Penn Avenue in Wilkinsburg.
