WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) ― The Jack Rabbit, the Log Jammer and the Pitt Fall. It's a sure sign summer is on the way; Kennywood is opening to visitors today.

With the 2008 season also comes some new rides and attractions sure to excite any amusement park thrill seeker.

The newest addition this year is the Ghostwood Estate attraction, which is replacing the old Gold Rusher ride.

Ghostwood Estate features a new system of trackless cars that travel through a haunted mansion and also features interaction by allowing riders to zap targets that pop out of nowhere.

"It's been amazing to watch because it's probably the biggest production outside of something like the Phantom's Revenge, a big rollercoaster, that we've every done," said Kennywood Park's Mary Lou Rosemeyer.

Kennywood officials say the park also has some new games and brand-new Make-Your-Own-Slushie machine in addition to the new ride.

Kennywood's Opening Day will be today.

Kennywood will then be closed from May 4 to May 7, and May 8 is scheduled as a day for school groups with reservations.

The park will then be open on May 9, 10 and 11, but closed on May 12 and 13.

It will then open daily for the season on May 14 through August 24.
