Couple Recalls Day Kennywood Brought Them Together

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) ― It was a day of fun at Kennywood on Friday as a local couple, married for more than 60 years, celebrated the day they met at the park.

Officials at Kennywood say George and Martha Barefoot, now married for 62 years and 4 months, met at the park in 1936 during the "East Liberty Picnic Day."

The couple, George, 93, and Martha, 94, now live in Wilkinsburg.

On Friday, the couple spent the day at Kennywood remembering the spot where they first met, sharing a special lunch and enjoying a ride or two.

The two also like to often reminisce about their times at the park with their neighbor and park supervisor, Carol Palangio.
