Kennywood Celebrates Thunderbolt's 40th Birthday

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) ― Rollercoaster enthusiasts are coming together at Kennywood this weekend to celebrate the birthday of a very popular attraction.

The Thunderbolt is turning the big 4-0. The thrill ride opened back in 1968.

Kennywood and the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of American Coaster Enthusiasts are marking the big day with a big party this afternoon.

Park officials say there will, of course, be birthday cake, as well as the unveiling of a Kennywood National Historic District sign.
