Police say an ambulance driver was drunk when her vehicle ran through an intersection in Marshall Township and crashed into a car, killing two men in September.
Shanea Climo, 21, of Evans City, has been charged by Northern Regional Police with two counts of homicide while under the influence and other charges including speeding.
Climo was working the midnight shift for the Cranberry Volunteer Ambulance Corp. on Sept. 23 when she responded to a call for a 90-year-old man with heart problems.
Police said that although it was not an emergency call, Climo traveled at 60 mph en route to the hospital.
A camera inside the ambulance showed Climo running a red light on Route 19 and crashing into a car driven by Douglas Stitt, 38, of Mercer.
Stitt and his passenger, Phillip Bacon, 32, of Sharpsville, were killed.
Police say Climo's blood alcohol reading after the crash registered a 0.07 percent, which is just under the state's limit for drunk driving.
Investigators have determined her blood alcohol level was at 0.092 percent at 2:20 a.m., which was the time of the accident.
Climo was released on bail.
