Beer Distributor's Widow Prays Case Will Be Solved

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― The case of a beer distributorship owner in Ross Township, who was killed three years ago, remains open.

On Tuesday, Joe Krainc's wife and two kids visited his grave-site and placed three small pumpkins on the headstone along with some fall flowers.

His wife, Sheli Heller, said she thinks about the incident all the time and tries to remain strong for the children who are now 10 and five-years-old.

"It's not something that we can really talk too much about in fear of harming the case but at the same time, they're doing their best and that's all we can hope for," Heller said.

Heller has also taken over the business since his death.

"There is no doubt in my mind from the very beginning that I would carry on Joe's Beer," she said.

Each customer will be given a sticker in honor of his memory.

Krainc was killed on Oct. 13, 2006. He was closing up his Lowries Run Road beer distributorship when he was robbed, but he refused to give up his money.

Krainc suffered two gunshot wounds and apparently tried to chase the gunman out of the store before collapsing in the parking lot.

"Whatever they needed or wanted could never be worth what they have taken away from a little girl and a little boy," Heller said.

Heller hopes another anniversary doesn't pass before the case is solved.
