Greene Co. Murder Trial Set To Begin Thursday

WAYNESBURG (KDKA) ― Opening statements are now set to begin on Thursday in the rape and murder trial of a local man.

Jeffrey Martin is accused of sexually assaulting and murdering 12-year-old Gabrielle Bechen of Greene County back in 2006.

Her disappearance led to a massive five day search.

Martin was a farm hand at a nearby horse ranch.

Jury selection was completed this morning. Officials interviewed more than 80 potential jurors over several days.

Martin could face the death penalty if he is convicted.
