Perry North Shooting Suspect Arraigned

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The teen accused in last week's shooting of a Perry North woman was arraigned early this morning in night court.

Officials say Jayquan Massey, 18, was arrested by the Sheriff's department on Wednesday while on a visit to his attorney.

Massey, who officials say was planning to turn himself in, is facing several charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

The victim, 47-year-old Cheryl Wilds, remains in the hospital fighting for her life after the November 21st shooting near the corner of Perrysville Avenue and Bonvue Street.

According to investigators, Massey was firing shots at a passing vehicle when Wilds was hit.

Officials say the bullet hit Wilds in the neck and severed her carotid artery.

Investigators say the victim's 14-year-old son was standing next to Massey when the shooting happened.

A preliminary hearing is set for December 5th.
