Defense Wants Murder Suspect's Trial Moved

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The defense attorney for a teenager who's accused of murdering a local court stenographer wants his client's trial moved out of Allegheny County.

Jayquan Massey, 18, is charged in the shooting death of 47-year-old Cheryl Wilds the day before Thanksgiving.

Wilds had just gotten off a bus in the city's Perry North neighborhood and was walking home with groceries for her holiday dinner when she was shot.

Investigators believe Massey was firing at a passing vehicle when a bullet struck Wilds.

Since Wilds worked as a court stenographer, the defense is expected to argue that Massey can't get a fair trial in Allegheny County because the victim knew nearly all the judges and attorneys in Allegheny County.
