Steelers' Harrison Won't Comment On Abuse Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) ― Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison and his agents say they are not commenting on criminal charges that he assaulted his girlfriend.

Twenty-nine-year-old Harrison, of Franklin Park, was arrested Saturday at a home in Ohio Township, about nine miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Ohio Township police say the couple was arguing that afternoon and the woman locked herself in a bedroom.

Police allege that Harrison broke down the door and hit her across the face with an open hand.

Harrison and his agents tell the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that they have no comment.

Team spokesman Dave Lockett says the Steelers are gathering information on the charges, but consider the matter a personal concern of Harrison's.
