Idlewild Employee Fired For "Peeping"

LIGONIER (KDKA) ― A teenage employee of a local amusement park is accused of secretly photographing women as they changed their clothes.

The incident happened at Idlewild and Soak Zone in Ligonier Township, Westmoreland County.

Police say the 15 year-old used his cell phone camera to break the law.

"The camera was tied to a broomstick," said Ligonier Township Police Dorazio. "From another room, he stuck it over the wall into the rafters into the girls' dressing area."

Police say he tied the cell phone to the broomstick with a wire from his ear phones.

"A woman inside the dressing room saw the camera flickering, a red light on the camera," said Chief Dorazio. "She said she got scared and called security.  Security then talked to the young man who got the camera and called us."

When police arrived, the teen had erased the photos he had taken but police say he admitted to doing it.

The chief believes this was an isolated incident.

The teen was dismissed as an employee from Idlewild that same day.

He now faces a summary charge of disorderly conduct and could face a $300 fine.

A spokesperson for Idlewild Park will only say the employee has been let go for breaking policy.
