Vigil Held For Pitcairn Shooting Victim

HOMEWOOD (KDKA) ― There was a candlelight vigil in Homewood for a teenager shot to death in a parked car in Pitcairn.

Lamont Ford, 17, called "Lowlow" by family and friends, grew up in Homewood. The vigil was held outside the home of Ford's grandmother.

Tears flowed openly, and friends tried to comfort one another, as they spoke about a boy growing up in the neighborhood.

Referring to the black-on-black shootings that have taken so many young lives, neighbor Juanita Perry said the violence has got to stop.

"It's not getting any better, it's getting worse, and it hurts when it hits home," she said.

"This isn't the first time something like this happened to someone I know," one of Ford's friends, Alan McLain, of the Hill District, said. "Ford was a good person."

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office says that Ford died of multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday evening.

He died about an hour after he was taken to a local hospital.
