New Initiative Looks To Cut Down On Homelessness

(KDKA) Westmoreland County officials announced an initiative today to cut down on homelessness.

The $1.8 million Homelessness Prevention and Housing Initiative was explained today by the county commissioners.

It will target people who are at risk of homelessness because of unemployment or illness.

The program will also help people who have fallen behind on utilities or can't pay their rent.

The program is being funded by federal stimulus money in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
