Pro-Children Group Wants Pittsburgh Off Google

PITTSBURGH (AP) ― A children's advocacy group wants Google to remove 3-D images of Pittsburgh from its Web site for fear pedophiles will use it to hunt down victims.

The group, Stop Internet Predators, has contacted Google about concerns the 360-degree, street level view of city neighborhoods that can be accessed on Street View could be used by pedophiles to scope out parks and other places frequented by children.

Street View shows images of Pittsburgh's metropolitan area and of 17 other U.S. cities.

The group's executive director Stacie Rumenap met with Allegheny County officials on Friday to discuss her concerns.

Google spokeswoman Elaine Filadelfo says the images on Street View are at least a year old, and pictures of children are blurred.
