Two Local Soldiers Shot During Fort Hood Rampage

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A former Langley High School student was among the 13 soldiers shot and killed Thursday in a shooting rampage in Fort Hood, Texas.

The family of 55-year-old military physician assistant Juanita Warman, whose maiden name was Juanita Rightweiser, was notified of her death by the Army Friday morning.

Warman's sister, Margaret Yagee, who lives in north central Pennsylvania, told KDKA-TV her sister deeply loved her country and her two daughters.

"My sister wasn't the type of person to just sit around and do nothing. She wanted to make a difference," she said.

Warman lived in Peters Township for several years where one of her neighbors described her as a quiet, friendly person.

Another local soldier, 2nd Lt. Brandy Mason, of Monessen, was among the more than two dozen people wounded in the bloodbath.

"I think she was a little upset. She was overseas and never got shot at or anything and she's right here in the United States and got shot," Sabrina Heath, the victim's aunt, said.

Mason served 14 months in Iraq and just recently re-enlisted in the Army.
