It's a scene emergency officials don't want to see again.
All across Allegheny County Wednesday night as rain filled the street, drivers still tried to make their way through despite warnings from police.
In Squirrel Hill, parked cars floated down Forbes Avenue near the intersection of Wightman Street.
In Bellevue, one woman's car stopped running after she tried to force her way through water that covered her tires.
And in Manor Borough, Westmoreland County, a woman's car washed up onto a softball field after she tried to cross Brush Creek Road.
"She drifted about 200 yards down the road and actually drifted through the playground and got caught in a tree," explained Captain Jeremy Dixon with the Manor Volunteer Fire Department who had to send in a dive team to rescue her. "If her car wouldn't have gone into the tree it could've gone under an underpass and gotten stuck and she could've gone to a watery grave."
As both counties prepare for possible storms and flooding Friday, emergency officials are urging drivers to use caution.
"The best advice is not to drive through standing water. It's common sense but sometimes common sense prevails," said Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Michael Huss.
"Pleas don't drive through standing water," Captain Dixon added. "If you don't have to be out of your house, don't come out of your house. By all means, make our jobs easier and don't make us fish you out of the water."
