Gov't Acquires Land For Flight 93 Memorial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Construction will begin in November on a permanent Flight 93 memorial.

The government has now acquired the rights to the land.

The National Parks Service paid eight landowners a combined $9.5 million to buy the land outside Shanksville.

The Flight 93 Memorial is slated to open by the 10th anniversary of the attacks in 2011.
