Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Finishes Local Home

PENN HILLS (KDKA) ― The Slaughter family of Penn Hills got to come home to a brand new house thanks to the efforts of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew and many volunteers from the Pittsburgh Area.

The family was greeted with cheers and screams by all their neighbors and volunteers who helped build their new home.

After a week's hard work they all got to shout the words "move that bus" to reveal their new four bedroom, English Tutor style home, with custom furniture, cabinetry and themes.

Local companies were used in the making of this house including, Wallscapes, Pelora and local horticulturist Rob Stirone did landscaping around the house.

Neighbor Sue Mark said she couldn't imagine a better family to get this.

"Because they're always helping everybody in the neighborhood whenever they're in need. They are just wonderful people," says Mark.

The episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition featuring the Slaughter family will air in January.
