Defense Could Rest Today In Wrongful Death Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Testimony is continuing today in the wrongful death lawsuit case against two state troopers in connection with the shooting death of a local boy.

Michael Ellerbe was shot and killed in December of 2002 during a chase involving those troopers.

Earlier this week, jurors watched a video of Ellerbe, 12, that was taken just three days before his death.

The jurors also heard from Ellerbe's father, who called his son "a dream come true."

The defense began its case by calling troopers Juan Curry and Samuel Nassan to the stand, who reportedly faced pointed questions from Ellerbe's family attorney.

State and federal investigators previously determined that the troopers were not criminally responsible in Ellerbe's death.

KDKA's Harold Hayes reports that the defense is expected to rest its case today.
