Jury Deliberations Underway In Wrongful Death Case
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Closing arguments have now wrapped up in the civil trial of two Pennsylvania State Troopers connected to the shooting death of an unarmed 12-year-old boy.
Jury deliberations began just after 1 p.m.
On Wednesday, testimony wrapped up as the defense continued its case with an expert from the Pittsburgh Police force and released some of the video shown to the jury to explain their side of the case.
Michael Ellerbe was shot and killed in December of 2002 during a chase involving two state troopers, Juan Curry and Samuel Nassan.
State and federal investigators previously determined that the troopers were not criminally responsible in Ellerbe's death.
KDKA's Harold Hayes reports that defense attorney, Andrew Fletcher, ended his closing arguments by replaying Trooper Samuel Nassan's 911 call.
Meanwhile, in the Plaintiff's closing argument, attorney Geoffrey Fieger told the jury the troopers lied. KDKA's Harold Hayes reports that the attorney said, "They said that's our story and we're sticking to it. And the coverup began."
