Elderly Man Killed In Elizabeth Twp. Accident

ELIZABETH TWP. (KDKA) ― An elderly man died in a bizarre incident not far from his home in Elizabeth Township.

Michael Kowalcheck, 85, was killed.

He was struck by a pickup truck, which was backing out of a driveway near Kowalcheck's home on Moray Lane in the Greenoch section of Elizabeth Township.

"He was a nice quiet guy. He never bothered anybody," said neighbor Paul Krutz. "I mean he took his daily walks back and fourth down the road, his wife passed away a few years ago. He has a son and a daughter. He lived with his son alone."

Allegheny County and Elizabeth Township Police closed off the road for several hours trying to reconstruct the accident.

Police said they would confer with the District Attorney's office before deciding on whether to file charges against the driver of the Chevy pickup truck.
