Massive Sinkhole Continues To Grow In E. Rochester

EAST ROCHESTER (KDKA) ― Frustrations for some residents in Beaver County continue to grow right along with an already massive sinkhole.

Officials in East Rochester say they are now planning to hold a Borough Council meeting to discuss the growing problem.

KDKA's Ross Guidotti reports that questions still remain over whose responsibility it is.

Back in December, the sinkhole forced the indefinite shut down of the nearby Evergreen Restaurant.

Officials said then that it developed over several months next to the restaurant's emergency exit door and has continued to widen ever since.

According to officials, the problem began with a collapsed drainage pipe that sent storm water running through a culvert under Route 65 and into the Ohio River, instead, it is saturating the soil.

Stay with KDKA for more on this story.
