Police: Man Beaten With Table Leg In East Liberty

EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh Police say two men savagely beat an 18-year-old man with a table leg inside a store in East Liberty.

Police arrested 30-year-old Yasim Shuman, from Monroeville, and his cousin 22-year-old Hitham Choman, from Penn Hills.

They're facing a number of charges, including aggravated assault, for allegedly assaulting their cousin, Ali Zahrich, from New York City.

A jitney driver went into a convenience store to make a purchase, saw two people in the back of the store stomping a young man and called police.

When officers arrived, the two men initially wouldn't allow officers in the store or the back of the store.

Zahrich was last listed in critical condition but is expected to live. He suffered multiple broken limbs and severe head and facial injuries.

Investigators say the incident apparently began over a family matter, but they want to interview the victim to get more details.

Shuman and Choman are in the Allegheny County Jail.
