Emotional Testimony In East End Rapist Trial
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
The trial continues for the man accused of being the East End Rapist.
In an emotional day in court, the last two of five victims in this trial gave their testimony.
They each described the nights during which they were raped, attacked and assaulted.
They gave very vivid descriptions of those nights.
Keith Wood, of Highland Park, maintains his innocence.
"I'm sorry for them, you know, but like I said, I'm not guilty of the charges," he said.
Wood is accused of five home invasion rapes that took place 8 years ago, mostly in ground floor apartments in the East End.
Police believe he's the notorious East End Rapist.
The fourth of five victims, a former doctor from Shady Side Hospital described her rape as a planned attack.
She said her assailant told her, he had been watching her.
She testified, "He knew my boyfriend had visited from visited for the weekend from Philadelphia and he knew his name."
She also said the attacker knew her name and threatened to kill her numerous times.
She was unable to positively identify him.
The fifth victim, a 32-year-old woman attacked in her ground floor apartment in Forest Hills, choked back tears and struggled to recall all the details of her attack.
She was able to describe her attacker as a black man with hairy forearms wearing jewelry.
She added, "He had a screw driver with a flat head, he pointed it to my eye."
That fifth victim said she could not positively identify her attacker because he had his face covered with a scarf.
The Commonwealth called other witnesses today some detectives and doctors involved in this case.
They are expected to call one final witness Thursday morning, and they will rest their case.
The judge is expected to charge the jury with this case on Monday.
