Duquesne Hit & Run Victim's Family Speaks Out

GREENSBURG (KDKA) ― The family of one of the victims in a fatal motorcycle crash is speaking out about the hit and run.

Paul Schmidt, 26, and Kelly Vasko, 31, both of Greensburg, died when a car hit their motorcycle on Route 837 in Duquesne.

Schmidt leaves behind a wife and a baby boy. The family is devastated that his son won't have a father anymore.

"This is Paul Schmidt - a great person, loved his family to death," Anthony Apodaca, the victim's brother-in-law, said.

The man who police say hit Schmidt and Vasko, Robert Bartok of Munhall, is facing a list of charges, including two counts each of involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle and homicide by vehicle while DUI.

Bartok is in the Allegheny County Jail on $1 million straight cash bond.
