One Killed In Duquesne Fire

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― One person is dead after an early morning fire in Duquesne.

It happened in a home in the 1000 block of Sherman Avenue.

Neighbors say the fire was so powerful that they heard explosions and the saw the sky light up.

"It sounded like fireworks going off at first," said neighbor Jason Wlodarski. "By the time I came down with my camera the whole front porch was engulfed."

A person jumped from the second floor.

A man and a woman also escaped the flames.

An elderly man was not so lucky.

Authorities are using dental records to positively identify the victim.

The cause of this fire remains undetermined.

Investigators say the exact cause of the fire may never be known because of the level of destruction.
