Closing Arguments To Begin In Oral Surgeon's Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Closing arguments are expected to begin this morning in the case of a local oral surgeon who is charged with sexually assaulting female patients.

Dr. Robert Boyda, Jr., of Mt. Lebanon is accused of molesting a number of patients while they were sedated.

During his trial, 17 former patients testified that Boyda assaulted them in his offices while they were recovering from the effects of anesthesia.

Boyda's lawyer countered the claims, arguing that the anesthesia made the patients hallucinate.

Defense attorney Bill Difenderfer told the court that the anesthetic Proporfol can cause vivid sexual dreams and that the victims did not experience sexual molestation – they dreamed it.
