While Deshea Townsend's fundraiser was a fun evening featuring Steelers helmet art to benefit his foundation Pay It Forward, Sunday's costly loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime weighed heavy on his and his teammates' minds.
"I thought about all day. You think about at your home you think about when you're away. We just gotta get a win," free safety Ryan Clark said.
"We know it takes preparation it all starts at practice. And guys are gonna come back to work on Wednesday and too whatever it takes to win," Townsend said. "And that's the mindset of a lot of the guys in that locker room because we've been through a lot of situations."
Making matters worse for Sunday's game against Baltimore is Big Ben's concussion making him questionable to play and Charlie Batch out with a broken left wrist just the latest injuries plaguing the Black & Gold.
"You obviously miss those guys. You don't want Charlie to be out and definitely don't want Troy to be out and Aaron Smith but you gotta keep planning and find guys to come in and do the job," Clark said. "But the biggest thing is we have to get back to enjoying football."
"You look injuries and things going I can speak for the kick off coverage team because I'm on it and it's not very positive," kicker Jeff Reed said. "But In the big picture we have plenty of guys to fill the role and we will get back on track."
And especially in these adverse times, the continued loyalty of Steeler Nation hasn't gone unnoticed.
"We love our fans and we know we have they're full support through everything and it makes you want to win," Clark said.
"They have just a big hearts as we do they want to be on the field and they can't and it's our job to prove to them that we're champions like they are," Reed added.
