Tagger/Artist Misses Show Due To Arrest
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
A local artist known for his installation art could not make his show Friday night because he was in jail.
Daniel Montano, 22, was supposed to be at an exhibition opening at the Mattress Factory Annex but he was arrested on criminal trespass and criminal mischief charges earlier in the week for dozens of graffiti incidents.
Montano, Pittsburgh's infamous graffiti king, was finishing his work for the show when he was arrested on Wednesday.
Police say his artwork has caused an estimated $700,000 damage.
Montano is now in the Allegheny County Jail's behavioral clinic being held on $50,000 bond.
If Montano manages to post bond, his movements will be severely restricted because he will be under house arrest and will be forced to wear a monitoring bracelet.
