Testimony Continues In Wecht Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Testimony continues today in the fraud trial of former Allegheny County Coroner Dr. Cyril Wecht.

Forensic Investigator Richard Lorah took the stand this morning.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Lorah testified about doing odd jobs for Dr. Wecht, in what became known in the coroner's office as "Wecht details."

Also testifying this morning was Lawrenceville Funeral Home Director Daniel D'Alessandro.

He said he felt compelled to file a ficticious death certificate for an Allentown man that indicated no autopsy was performed when the prosecution contends the body was dissected at Carlow University.

Prosecutors allege Wecht traded cadavers for the free use of lab space at Carlow to conduct private autopsies.
