Baby Snatching Suspect Ordered To Mental Hospital

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A judge has ordered the woman accused of killing a pregnant woman and cutting her unborn child from her womb to Torrance State Hospital for 60 days.

In July, Andrea Curry-Demus went to a hospital claiming she'd given birth.

However, suspicious hospital workers alerted authorities, who later found 18 year-old Kia Johnson's body in Curry-Demus' home.

A psychiatrist testified this morning at at competency hearing that Curry-Demus told her that she believes she is being persecuted by the victim, who Curry-Demus believes is still alive.

A judge previously found Curry-Demus competent, but her previous attorney says she has a history of mental problems.

Kia Johnson's baby is now with her mother's family.
