Some Concerned As New Children's Hospital Opens

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The ribbon was officially cut at the new Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville today.

Although patients don't officially arrive until May 2nd, some neighbors of the hospital are concerned about what the new hospital will mean to traffic and parking in their area.

The hospital tried to address concerns about traffic and parking by having employees park off-site and be shuttled to the facility.

Parts of Penn Avenue have been widened and turn lanes have been installed to help traffic flow.

Local business are looking forward to increased business but worry about parking for their customers.

Hospital officials say they had the community in mind when they didn't put retail stores and restaurants like Wendy's or Starbucks inside the building itself.
