Local Mom Dies Following November Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Family and friends are mourning the loss of a local mother who was shot last November after getting off a bus in a local neighborhood.

Officials say 47-year-old Cheryl Wilds, of Pittsburgh's North Side, died late Wednesday night. Authorities say she was an innocent bystander in the shooting.

Family and friends say she passed away in a rehabilitative care home located in Shadyside.

Wilds was shot just one day before Thanksgiving after getting off a bus and walking home with groceries for holiday dinner.

Police have charged Jayquan Massey, 18, of the North Side in the shooting. He is facing trial.

Right now, Massey is being charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. But he could now possibly be facing a homicide charge in the case.

Investigators say Massey was shooting at an SUV, but hit Wilds.

Stay with KDKA for the more on this developing story.
