The state of the economy isn't dissuading some developers from breaking ground on new housing sites in our area.
In fact, officials just broke ground on the new Chartiers Landing, an upscale community of about two dozen sites in Robinson Township.
The project, which has been on the drawing board for about 18-months, comes at a time when banks are failing, the government is considering a $700 billion buyout plan and the country may be falling into a possible recession.
Even so, Developer Stan Celich, says he's not concerned about finding buyers for the homes.
In fact, Celich says he's optimistic about the future. "I think fortunately what we're going to see is, I think Congress and the House will come up with something that will end up making this the most opportune time to buy homes over the next six months or so; and I think we're in a unique position where we only have
21 home sites. That's 21 folks that want to find a terrific place to live and a great community."
Some lots have already sold and construction has started on the first home.
"We have demand right now," Celich adds. "We have people calling. We have people that have bought lots already off of us."
Celich hopes to have all the available lots sold within the next six months.
The homes in Chartiers Landing start at about $380,000.
