Breakdown Of The North Shore Casino Traffic Costs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―

Construction on Don Barden's Majestic Star Casino is one step closer now that the Steelers and Pirates have agreed to drop their legal appeals over traffic concerns.

Allegheny County
President Judge Joseph James confirmed today that the sports teams agreed to withdraw their appeals to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in writing by November 8th.



In addition, Judge James says the parties have agreed to share in the costs of pedestrian and traffic improvements with assistance from the state, Allegheny County and the city of Pittsburgh.

Judge James provided the following court order detailing the breakdown of the agreement between the Steelers and Don Barden's Majestic Star Casino.






PHYSICAL IMPROVEMENTS TO MITIGATE TRAFFIC

I.  Short Term Improvements:




A.  Complete overhead lane controls, message signs and signalization on the West End Bridge and West End Circle



1.       State To Pay:           65%
2.       Steelers to Pay:       20%
3.      
Casino:                     10%
4.      
City of Pittsburgh        5%
5.       Once estimates set, parties dollar amounts set and state to pay overruns



B.  Pedestrian Bridge




1.       State:         50%
2.      
County      12.5%
3.      
Steelers    12.5%
4.      
City            12.5%
5.       Casino      12.5%   



II.  Long Term 


1.       Feasibility of reconfiguration of north end of West End Bridge
2.       Feasibility of Beaver/SR 65 Southbound fly over ramp
