The Canonsburg Independence Day Parade is a decades-long tradition and this year was no different.
Officials estimate between 30,000 and 50,000 people attended today's parade featuring hundreds of floats, veterans and participants.
Parade-goers also didn't seem to mind the threat of rain and clouds hanging over Canonsburg all morning.
Sydney Carter, Teen Miss Pittsburgh 2008, said the tradition of the parade is more important than the rain.
"Everybody's out here supporting, everybody's excited and there's a lot of different vibes here," Carter said.
Sylvia Muckle said she likes the parade because it honors our troops, both the current ones and the veterans of previous wars.
"I hope they know that we're supporting them and we're praying for them and we really hope the best and we appreciate everything they do for us," Muckle said.
The parade gets bigger and bigger every year and Canonsburg residents say they couldn't be happier about it.
"We love it. We come every year," Ron Jones, longtime Canonsburg resident said.
